This interactive Beach and Cala Finder matches a Costa Brava beach to what you want - family sand, snorkelling, a secluded cove, a naturist beach, or easy parking - within a chosen drive time of Tossa de Mar. The single most important fact is that the best coves are reachable only by car. Moventis buses (lines L9 and L52) on the GI-682 stop only in town centres, never at cove turn-offs, and the Dofi Jet hop-on-hop-off boats link only the main town beaches (Blanes, Lloret, Cala Canyelles and Tossa). In July and August most cove car parks and roadside laybys fill by 10:00 to 11:00, so arrive early. Tossa's beaches are coarse golden granitic sand, which settles fast and keeps the water clear for snorkelling. The Tossa town beaches - Platja Gran, Mar Menuda and Es Codolar - are walkable from the bus station; Platja Gran and Mar Menuda hold a 2026 Blue Flag, and Mar Menuda with its rocky 'Banyera de ses Dones' pool is the best in town for families and snorkelling. South of Tossa the campsite coves all need paid parking: Cala Llevado (about 10 minutes, a top dive cove), Cala d'en Carlos (about 10 minutes, serviced), Cala Llorell (a gated estate charging EUR 10-15 per vehicle), Cala Pola (about 13 minutes, around EUR 20 per day) and Cala Giverola (about 15 minutes, around EUR 25-30 per day, the priciest locally, a dive site with a wall, cave, tunnel and Posidonia meadows). North toward Sant Feliu the wild coves trade services for solitude and the best snorkelling: Cala Figuera (naturist), Cala Futadera (the cove of 300 steps, naturist, about 18 minutes), Cala Bona (no car park - leave the car in Tossa and walk the Cami de Ronda), Cala Vallpresona (a 1 km forest hike, naturist, about 25 minutes) and Cala del Senyor Ramon (a steep dirt track, 2WD only if dry, naturist, about 30 minutes). In Lloret de Mar, Cala Canyelles, Santa Cristina and Sa Boadella (naturist far end) hold 2026 Blue Flags; the Santa Cristina chapel car park is about EUR 8 per day, and Cala Banys is a rocky snorkelling cove with no sand. In Blanes, Cala Sant Francesc is a family-friendly Blue Flag bay. Cala Salionc is gated for residents only, so skip it by car. The best snorkelling coves are Mar Menuda, Cala Llevado, Cala Futadera, Cala Giverola and Cala Banys.
